To make safe use of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, solid device identification and authentication is required, but also a secure connection. You would like to ensure that a) the connected device is familiar and b) the transmitted data is reliable and c) this data does not end up with third parties. IoT devices, therefore, require their own unique identity, which can be verified when the device sends or receives data.
Authentication for IoT in practice
With KeyTalk you generate, implement and manage X.509 certificates for authentication of IoT devices, so your devices have a clear identity and a unique crypto key. With this unique ID, admins can follow the life cycle, communicate securely with the device, guarantee data integrity and more.
- KeyTalk can be used for all IoT devices that are able to communicate with a supported communication protocol with the KeyTalk server. Within that condition, the possibilities are endless.
- Issuance of certificates and associated key pairs can be (semi)manual via a (delegated) admin, or fully automated. If required, certificate issuing protocols such as ACME, SCEP, CMPv2, SSH are supported.
- In practice, many IoT devices do not have sufficient computing power to generate strong keys themselves. KeyTalk solves this problem by generating private keys with sufficient entropy (the degree of randomness in a key) so that IoT devices are also provided with strong crypto keys.
